every woman is a perfect gorgeous angel and every man is just some guy
Sophie Bebeau
(title taken from a tweet by Caitie Delaney, @catiedelaney)
every woman is a fossiled fern limestone impression
made of threads that backstitch the first moon
and this moon together
every woman is July, is heat and black powder, is night
grass and PTSD, rocketing back to the evening
star with the other migratory black holes
every woman is a worm moon, whose belly is also
a folded heart, creased and pressed into a swan
kneading her wings into paste
every woman is a sumptuous lace front dress
whose buttons buzz and purr and fall away to reveal
another sumptuous lace front dress
every woman is a murmur, a cardiac hound
a backflow of blood collared up
in the rafters of her small organs
every woman is a trial in absentia, she’s in bed, she’s kissing
a small light, tenderly tugging at the fabric of her body
she’s rubbing her gamma ray glands against a notion
every woman is the rarest asperitas cloud, chewing gum soft
like the curve of a clef, feeding on ocean gyres and shedding
a downy velvet into your lucky provincial arms
every man is just some guy
