Eternal Life
Cletus Crow
Methuselah died
at nine hundred
and sixty-nine, which
is enough if
only to get to know you.
The lack of longevity
available now
should be criminal.
I hold out hope
a fountain of youth
washes up
on Miami Beach,
seaweed cloaking
ornate gold.
We’re young enough
for forever,
immortal like weather,
and fuck softly
until this place becomes ash.
