Big Tragedies, Little Tragedies
David Wojciechowski
after Cabaret, dir. M. Kijowicz, 1954
The candlemaker has a secret. He walks it through the darkness. He places it on the ground. Runs away from it. Comes back to it. Let’s a truck try to run over it. His secret is a pushpin that can end the world. His secret is a hole in a fence. He rides his secret like a cannonball through the earth and creates thousands of tiny universes. He lights a candle in the ensuing darkness.
